Hand Hygiene

Why a hand hygiene regime?
It is estimated that the average phone harbours over 25,000 germs per square inch and a desktop has over 20,000 germs, compared to an average toilet seat which has only 49 germs per square inch. So adopting a hygiene regime for your organisation would be beneficial not just for a human flu pandemic but also in helping reduce the spread of illness from bacteria and viruses in general.
When the international shipping corporation 'FedEx' instituted a hand hygiene regime in 2004, they experienced a 21% reduction in absenteeism as a direct result of the initiative.
In a pandemic, virus laden water droplets will be expelled by infected people coughing, sneezing or even talking. These microscopic droplets will land on surrounding surfaces such as desks, telephones, keyboards, door handles etc. and will remain active for several hours. Hands touching these surfaces can become infected and a simple touch of the face can complete transmission. Reassuringly these risks to your organisation can be greatly diminished by adopting some simple hygiene procedures.
Hand hygiene
Keeping hands clean and virus free in a pandemic is essential, however it's not always possible or convenient to clean hands with antiviral soap and water throughout the day. Therefore Influenza Protection recommends the use of an antiviral Hand Sanitising Gel. Our range of hand sanitisers have been tested and certified for their effectiveness against viruses and their use originates from the Health Service. They can be conveniently situated on desks and work stations or even carried by individuals who are on the move.
Surface wipes
Our range of surface wipes are conveniently packaged in either sachet form or in tub dispensers. They can be situated on desks and work stations or be carried by the individual on the go. The surface wipes have been tested and certified for their effectiveness against viruses and bacteria. Crucially the ingredients of our surface wipes are alcohol free and will not cause delamination to the surfaces of delicate equipment such as keyboards, telephones, mobile phones and are gentle on the skin.
Nitrile gloves
To compliment the hand hygiene regime and to offer further reassurance when cleaning surfaces or removing PPE, Influenza Protection recommends 'Nitrile Gloves'. These gloves are similar to surgical gloves, being close fitting, however they contain no latex which can be a major source of skin irritation. Nitrile Gloves are used regularly in the Health Service and are a guaranteed barrier against transmittable disease such as viruses.
Training
You can now cascade your new robust hygiene regime throughout your whole organisation simply and effectively through our unique downloadable educational video clips. All departments within your organisation can be introduced to the new hygiene approach by either a simple e-mail or through a formalised web-cast. This e-training is supported by a printed campaign of posters and leaflets.
